Preparing for Your Installation
Items to remove before installation day
Furniture
To allow for a smooth installation, all areas receiving new flooring must be cleared. Larger furniture items can be moved by our team upon request, though additional charges may apply. However, we do not remove personal belongings, decorations, or electronics such as TVs and computers.
Special items
Installing flooring can generate dust and debris. To protect delicate or special items, please store them away in a separate area of your home. This includes curtains, paintings, and entertainment equipment.
Pets
Installation can be a stressful process for pets. Ensure they have a safe space away from the work area to avoid accidents and disturbances.
Plumbing
If flooring installation involves kitchens, bathrooms, or other areas with plumbing fixtures, you will need to hire a professional plumber to disconnect and reconnect appliances like washers, dishwashers, and ice makers. Our team does not perform plumbing work.
Plan for baseboards and doorframes
Following installation, baseboards, door trims, and other woodwork may require finishing or repainting. While our team will install new molding when needed, staining or painting must be completed by the homeowner or a hired painter. Additionally, newly installed carpet may alter door movement, requiring adjustments that are not covered under our installation services.

What To Do?
During installation day
While your presence is appreciated, you do not need to be home during the entire process. However, you may need to verify specific placement details before work begins. Our team will communicate expected arrival times and keep you updated on progress. Please ensure children and pets remain out of the work area to maintain safety.
After installation

Final walk-through
We recommend participating in a final walk-through with the chief installer before our team leaves. This allows you to inspect the work and ask any questions about care and maintenance. -
New floor smell
New flooring may have a chemical-like odor for 48-72 hours after installation. Increased ventilation, such as opening windows and running fans, can help dissipate odors. Keep children and pets away from the area until the smell subsides. -
Carpet shedding
If you have installed carpet, shedding is a natural occurrence. Frequent vacuuming in the first few days will help manage loose fibers. Carpet sprouting, where small tufts become visible, can be trimmed with scissors. -
Wrinkles or ripples
Temperature and humidity fluctuations can cause minor ripples or wrinkles in your flooring. If this occurs, contact Eastman’s Carpets & Flooring to arrange for adjustments. All floors are covered by our 1-year labor warranty for your peace of mind.
