Cali Bamboo started as mission for two friends to provide sustainable, high quality building materials. Their mission was discovered during a stop on a surf trip in Kauai, HI in 2003. One year later Cali Bamboo began offering bamboo fencing in the Southern California area, a few months later the company went national. Not only is bamboo immensely stronger than traditional hardwoods, it also regenerates at a speed over 15x faster than traditional trees. Bamboo can be continuously harvested every 3 years without causing damage to the plant system, in case continuous harvesting has been proven to improve the health of the plant. Because of its rapid regeneration, bamboo helps produce more oxygen and eliminate more CO2 than traditional trees in the same time period. Bamboo plants are also great at stopping erosion and protecting riverbanks.
